The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without their superstar shortstop, Mookie Betts after he was hit in his left hand by a 98 MPH fastball fracturing a bone.
Betts was facing Kansas City Royals right-handed reliever Dan Altavilla in the bottom of the seventh inning when he was hit by the fastball. He was removed from the game after the HBP.
"It's a big blow. I feel really bad for Mookie. He was obviously having an MVP type season. It's very unfortunate. You gotta move on, and that's what we're going to do. It was a fracture. I don't have a timeline. It was the left hand. I think it was the metacarpal. It's going to be time. It's broke. I just don't know what that means for a timeline. No surgery. It's just going to be rest and let the bones heal," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.
According to Dodger Insider, when asked what's next for him, Mookie Betts responded...
" I'm not sure. I'm honestly not sure. Obviously, I'll be watching the boys and cheering them on. Other than that, just kind of rest, maybe use it as a mental break, and be ready to go whenever it heals up."
Over 72 games, Betts was hitting...
.304 AVG, 86 Hits, 16 Doubles, 3 Triples, 10 HR's, 40 RBI's, 50 Runs Scored, 47 BB's, 9 stolen bases...
