Bermuda Bracing for Ernesto

Bermuda is bracing for Hurricane Ernesto, which is predicted to reach the island between Friday night and Saturday. Ernesto is currently and will most likely remain a category 2 hurricane but can reach to a category 3.

Winds are sustained at 100 mph, 6 to up to 15 inches of rain is possible and dangerous storm surge is expected.

The L.F. Wade International Airport will close at 8 p.m. Friday along with several roads. The emergency care center and shelter will also open. Lifeguards have been pulled off beaches; bus and transportation services have been canceled as well. Carnival, Norwegian and other cruise lines have diverted away from the area.

The east coast of the US is facing high risk of rip currents.
