Baltimore High Schools Not Proficient In Math

Of the 1,736 high school students taking the state math proficiency test in Baltimore, 1,295 of them scored a 1 out of 4, indicating they are nowhere close to being proficient in the subject. In 13 of the 32 schools, they failed to have one single student pass the state mathematics test. Even in the city’s best schools, only 92 of the 809 students shockingly tested proficient, which is only 11.4%.

Baltimore County Public Schools stated, “We acknowledge that some of our high school students continue to experience challenges in math following the pandemic, especially if they were struggling before hand…The work is underway to improve outcomes for students.”
