With the Seine River in Paris, France facing unsafe E. coli levels, Olympic organizers confirm the backup plan for the triathlon and marathon swimming events.
The events could either be delayed, or moved indoors due to the dangerous bacteria levels, making it unsafe for athletes to swim in.
The triathlon could possibly be changed to a duathlon, removing the swimming portion of the competition. The marathon swimmers could possibly be relocated to the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, where the canoeing and rowing competitions will occur, or to the indoor pool.
