Back to Back Championships for UConn

March Madness came to an end on Monday night as the Connecticut Huskies beat the Purdue Boilermakers 75-60 to become the first back to back National Champs in 17 years.

The Huskies won their 12th straight March Madness game. All won by 13 points or more, on the way to their sixth overall title.

UConn became just the third team, along with the 2006-07 Florida Gators and the 1991-92 Duke Blue Devils to win back to back Championships since John Wooden's UCLA dynasties of the 1960's and 70's.

The Huskies became just the sixth team to win all six tournament games by double digits, outscoring their opponents by a record 140 points, passing the 129 by the 1996 Kentucky Wildcats.

Tristen Newton led the way for the Huskies with 20 points.  Stephon Castle had 15 points and Cam Spencer and Donovan Clingan added 11 points each.

Zach Edey led all scorers with 37 points and 10 rebounds for the Boilermakers. Braden Smith added 12 points.

*** Edey's 37 points outscored the rest of the Boilermakers combined scoring total of just 23 points.
