The Houston Astros have announced they are optioning first baseman Jose Abreu to their spring training facility in West Palm Beach, Florida.
General Manager Dana Brown said the goal is "to get some at bats and his timing back right."
"It's definitely a rare thing, but it tells you that much more about the human being. He was frustrated. He was wearing it," Brown continued.
Since joining the Astros on a 3 year $58.5 million contract before the 2023 season, Abreu has struggled. This season he has only 7 hits in 71 at bats and no home runs, just 1 double and 3 RBI's.
