Arizona Prosecutor Refusing to Extradite NYC Murder Suspect to NYC

Maricopa County prosecutor Rachel Mitchell, said she will not extradite a NYC murder suspect back to NYC at this time because she doesn’t trust Alvin Bragg, Manhattan’s District Attorney.

Raad Almansoori, 26, is currently locked up without bail in Arizona for stabbing two women there. Almansoori is accused of fleeing NY after he allegedly murdered a woman by beating her to death at a SoHo hotel. Almansoori was arrested days after he fled NYC and is said to have stabbed one woman in a McDonald’s bathroom in Phoenix and another woman during a robbery attempt.

Bragg wants Almansoori brought back to New York to face his murder charges but Mitchell wants him to remain locked up in Arizona.

Mitchell said, “I’m putting the victims first and making sure he stays in custody… These are mandatory prison sentences. And having observed the treatment of violent criminals in the New York area by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, I think it’s safer to keep him here and keep him in custody so that he can not be out doing this to individuals either in our state, county, or anywhere in the United States. … It was just a couple weeks ago that some of the illegal immigrants that were in New York City who beat up on police officers were let go…”

Emily Tuttle, a spokesperson from Manhattan District Attorney said Mitchell’s comments were “deeply disturbing” and accused her of “playing political games in a murder investigation.”

Mitchell’s office said, “All pending criminal matters in Arizona are to be resolved first before extradition to the outside state occurs.”
