Another Encounter On NYPD At Migrant Shelter

NYPD officers were responding to a report of a man causing a disturbance at the city’s Randall’s Island migrant shelter last Thursday around 11 a.m.

“Upon arrival, officers observed a male who was involved in a verbal dispute with security and acting in a disorderly fashion,” an NYPD spokesperson said.

Officers asked the man to leave the shelter because he wasn’t authorized to be there, and he resisted. Several migrants jumped in trying to stop the officers from detaining the man.

Police then had to use their batons to back the migrants away from the area where they were trying to cuff the male as he was resisting arrest. Items such as a pizza box and a backpack were thrown at the officers and were hit in the head. The officers were able to eventually cuff the man and detain him. He was arrested for trespassing.

No officers were injured in the incident.
