5 Charged in Matthew Perry’s Death

According to the US Attorney’s Office, five people have been charged in connection to “Friends” star, Matthew Perry’s accidental overdose death in October 2023.

Investigators “revealed a broad, underground criminal network responsible for distributing large quantities of ketamine to Mr. Perry and others.”

The main defendants in this case are Dr. Salvador Plasencia, 42, aka “Dr. P,” a licensed medical doctor, and Jasveen Sangha, 41, aka “The Ketamine Queen.” Both have pleaded not guilty and have court appearances later this month and a trial set for October.

Other defendants include Perry’s personal, live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, 59, who admitted in court documents to administering ketamine to Perry on the day he died; Dr. Mark Chaves, 54, who admitted in court documents to selling ketamine to Dr. Plasencia, and Eric Fleming, 54, who admitted in court documents that he distributed the ketamine that killed Perry. All three pleaded guilty.

Martin Estrada, US Attorney claims, “These defendants took advantage of Mr. Perry’s addiction issues to enrich themselves… They knew what they were doing was risking great danger to Mr. Perry, but they did it anyway.”

“Plasencia saw this as an opportunity to profit off of Mr. Perry,” said Estrada and added the doctor allegedly wrote, “I wonder how much this moron will pay,” and that he wanted to be Perry’s “go-to for drugs,” in text messages.

Perry was being charged $2,000 per vial of the drug that cost the doctors only $12 per vial and paid about $55,000 in cash for 20 vials within the last two months before his death.

Some charges include conspiracy to distribute ketamine and falsifying documents related to the federal investigation.
